Life as a SAHM can be somewhat Topsy Turvy to say the least.  Everyday can be unpredictable yet momentous, hectic yet fulfilling.  I mean …. it’s normally not the BIG ticket items that get us down in a regular day; it’s the little niggling things that seem to snowball you when you least expect it.  When you are having a bad day you are simply having a bad day.

A bad day in my LBK (life before kids) entailed not meeting a deadline, having to work back late, trying to get my boss back from OS when all airlines are on strike or someone simply stealing from fav stapler from my desk, but nowadays things have reached an entirely new low (at least that’s what manifests in our minds).

If you think you are having a bad day….. “phone a friend” and you can be certain they are having a worse time of it than you.

There’s one GF who only this morning had to put on her Nurses uniform to tend to Mr 2.  He knocked his nose on the radiator style heater and had his own version of the 1984 classic “Blood Bath at the House of Death” erupting whilst his older sister ran screaming through the house in terror at the sight of it all.  All the while Mum was wiping blood, calming daughter and sorting out a party menu for 20 people in her head.

Verdict: [not a good start to the day]

Let me see; there’s my GF who has 2 boys and a third nugget on the way.  She is currently in her 2nd trimester and not having a seemingly blissful time of it.  Migraines, extreme back pain and general discomfort.  Today she let me know that she is not only sick of her own complaining voice, but also obsessed with woman who utilize the Green Enviro Bag for uses other than groceries (although see linked article stating they are Australia's Most Loved Accessory).  Everyone lock away your kitchen knives because if she sees another Enviro Bag darting through the Mall heads could roll!

Verdict: [not having a good day]

There’s my BFF who only yesterday had a series of events that nearly turned her to the Tequila bottle way before 5.00pm.  She vacated a linen store after the shop assistant attempted to ridicule her children, she found out she was taking money out of her husbands business account instead of her personal account and had to hastily repay the funds, she was “over” child No. 2 and is contemplating sending her to 3 year old rehab if it exists.

Verdict: [not having a good day]

But after just speaking with her today - things are looking up.  She's drawn a centre-part in her hair and twisted the sides in an half arse attempt to resemble Rachel Zoe - god love her.  She sounds a little chuffed and quite happy with her new look.  Oh the simple life of a SAHM.

There’s my other BFF who recently gave birth to twins.  So that’s 4 under 4 (counting her other 2 sons).  She has had several sleepless nights but manages to keep her positive aura glowing.  Last night her Mr 3 awoke before midnight and had to be entertained with a DVD whilst she fed her twins for the umpteenth time and contemplated changing their nappies for the umpteenth time.

Verdict: [roller-coaster of life to come]

And there is my day today …… childless for approximately 6 hours (and counting) lost in my own tranquil shopping world of Target.

Verdict: [1 pair of white cargo's, 1 kids outfit, 1 skirt and 2 My Little Ponies for the price of 1 ….. hmmm not such a bad day after all]

Then there's the obligatory; shite I forgot to get milk, I've run out of nappies, horrible kids at the park beating up on mine, people pushing in-front of my pram, overdue library books, fark can that washing pile up anymore, can food for dinner again and the trivial big issues go on!

It's all relative hey!  One Mum's disaster is another's laughter.  One Mum's laughter is another's disaster.  All in a day's work.
